Tallest Buildings in the World – 2012



10. Jin Mao Tower

This super tall structure has 88 floors which was the 5th tallest building of the world with respect to roof height. It stands in Shanghai, China. The total expense of this project was 530 million dollars. Its height is measured as 421 meters which lets it make an entry to the list of tallest skyscrapers.

9. Trump International Hotel and Tower

This is also called as the Trump Tower Chicago. It is a condo-hotel in downtown Chicago The building was named after Donald Trump an estate developer. The expense of this project was 847 million dollars. It has 98 floors and a height of 423 meters. Thus it stands at number 9 in top 10 highest buildings in the world.

8. Guangzhou International Finance Center

According to this list china has the most number of tallest buildings of the world. This skyscraper is in Guangzhou, China. The total cost on this project was 1.2 billion dollars. It height is 438 meters. The total floors of this building are 103. The floors 1 to 66 are used as office, 67 and 68 are used for mechanical equipment, and remaining for a four season’s hotel.

7. Willis Tower

Here at number eight, comes the super economic country, USA. Willis towers are also known as Sears towers. It is a 108 storey skyscraper standing in Chicago, Illinois. When it was completed in 1973 it was the tallest building of the world. But with a height of 442 meters it is now on the 7th rank in tallest skyscrapers of the world.

6. Nanjing Greenland Financial Center

This super tall building was completed in April 2010. This structure is also a proud architecture of China. It was built in Nanjing. It has 89 floors. The height of this structure is measured as 450 meters. This estimated expense of this project was calculated to be around 375 million dollars. Basically this building was designed by Adrian Smith.

5. Petronas Towers

Here at number 5 stands this tall structure of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was the tallest building of the world as stated by CTBUH until Taipei 101 was completed in 2004. The height of this structure measured is 452 meters and it has 88 floors. The total cost on this project was 1.6 billion dollars.

4. International Commerce Center

The international Commerce Center stands in Hong Kong, China. And it was completed in 2010. An estimate is that this project’s cost was 3.85 billion dollars. It has 108 floors and a height of 484 meters. This project was completed by two developers i.e. Sun Hung Kai Properties and MTR Corporation in 2010.

3. Shanghai World Financial Center

This skyscraper stands in Shanghai, China. It also contains a hundred and one floors and its height is 492 meters.  It was developed by the Mori Building. The total cost on this project was 1.2 billion dollars. This structure is also a mixed use skyscraper which is used for multi purposes like offices, hotels, conference rooms, shopping malls and observation desks.

2. Taipei 101

This structure is also known as Taipei Worlfinancial Center which is second tallest building in the world by 2012. Its height is 509 meters. It is also known as Taipei 101 because it has 101 floors. The cost of this project was 1.8 billion dollars and it stands in Taipei, Taiwan. It is built in order to withstand any kind of earthquakes and typhoons. It has hundreds of fashionable stores, restaurants and clubs.

1. Burj Khalifa

This is the tallest building of the world stated by CTBUH. It stands in Dubai, UAE. Its construction started in September 2004 and completed in October 2009. This building was opened officially in the start of the year 2010. It has 163 floors and its height is 828 meters. The project cost was 1.5 billion dollars and is still is recognized as the tallest skyscraper of the world.
